Sawary Alexandria Phase 4 Malls Area

Located in the district of Alexandria, Sawary Alexandria Phase 4 focuses on constructing a three new new malls. Like other regions of the city, the soil and groundwater exhibit elevated chloride levels, posing a significant threat to concrete and the reinforcing rebar. To mitigate the risk of corrosion in the foundations of the three new malls—Motaheda, Golden, and Gomla Market—Beton for Consulting & Construction Chemicals specified the use of Xypex Crystalline Technology. Xypex products make the concrete permanently waterproof and chemically resistant, and they also enable the concrete to self-heal cracks up to 0.5 mm, thereby protecting the reinforcing rebar. This robust defense against chloride infiltration enhances the durability of the structures.

The Motaheda Mall used Xypex Concentrate in its raft slab and Xypex Admix C-1000 NF in the retaining walls. Xypex Concentrate was also applied to the Golden Mall foundations, while at the Gomla Market, Xypex Admix C-1000 NF was used in the 20 cm thick raft slab and retaining walls. These Xypex waterproofing solutions extend the lifecycle of the mall infrastructures, supporting Alexandria’s architectural growth and economic expansion.
